Things Your Dog Wants to Do This Summer

June 01, 2021

Do you have big plans for this summer? Many people are really looking forward to reconnecting with family and friends. Of course, your canine companion probably has a few things on his agenda as well. Read on as a Pasadena, MD vet lists some of the things Fido has on his to-do list.

Man’s Best Friend loves going to new places. This is a perfect time of year for some exploration. Take your furry buddy on a fun day trip to a pretty park or trail you haven’t explored yet. Be sure to bring plenty of water along for you and your pup!

Fido is always cute, but he’s extra adorable when he is happily running after a ball or jumping up for a Frisbee. Playing is not only a great way for your pooch to get his workout in, it also gives him beneficial mental stimulation, and helps him burn off the zoomies. Take time to play with your cute pet every day. This will put a smile on your face as well.

We can’t blame Fido for this one: we’re looking forward to grill outs too. Your canine pal will definitely be underfoot whenever you cook outdoors. Take care with what you offer him. Avoid giving him anything that isn’t safe, such as garlic and onions; chocolate; alcohol; avocados; grapes and raisins; meat on the bone; pitted fruits; raw dough; and anything that contains xylitol.

Our canine friends may not be unanimous on this one, but many pooches really do love splashing around in water. Just be sure to put your pet’s safety first. Never leave Fido unsupervised near water, even for a minute.!

Cold Snack

Who doesn’t enjoy a cold treat on a sweltering summer day? Enjoy a frozen treat with your four-legged friend. You can get doggy ice cream in stores, but if you like to cook, you can also make homemade versions. Look online for recipes and ideas.

Quiet Walks

Summer evenings are perfect for taking your pooch on a relaxing walk. Carve out some down time with Fido, and just enjoy his company. A stroll with your furry bff is a great way to unwind after a long day at work!

Please reach out if ever we can be of assistance. As your Pasadena, MD veterinary clinic, we’re always here to help!
